Using a template for this blog

I shall face the fact that my design skills suck 😅.

I have had this blog since 2020, occasionally updating it with random posts. Initially I thought I could use it showcase my "talent" in web design, but... sadly, I have not the talent for it. Instead I decided to pay some money for FlexiBlog, a theme that uses gatsbyjs, which I wanted to use for static, pre-rendered pages.

It took some tweaking to figure out how the resources provided works, but I think it was well worth the money and small effort since I do like how it looks in both desktop and mobile views after porting content over.

Homepage

Previously, the website was focussed more on my profile than the blog. The blog button had to be clicked to get to the blog homepage. I decided to change the focus to the blog instead as that is where fresher content that I want people to see would be available.

As you can see, the "Recently Published" section shows the newest blog posts immediately on the homepage.

And the theme comes with dark mode for you vampires out there!

Blog post page

The old blog post page was pretty plain. I reasoned that it was to keep it minimalist, but in my heart, I knew I was just lazy. Now the blog post page also includes links to other posts, and has a section for a post image.

A small issue with this is now I feel the need to also provide an image for each blog post!

Hope these changes will make it easier to view this blog!
